If you have been put off knitting your own chair because of the amount of yarn and the size of the project, then this is the pattern for you! Using only a little over 400 yards of yarn, it’ll go so fast you’ll be amazed!
I found this about a week ago in Craftster,
It’s knitted by Jen Hunt from Washington DC, inspired by her favorite sports team colours, Redskins.
She used only 5 skeins of Lion Brand Jiffy Thick and Quick!
Here’s what she has to say about it…
“When I saw your knitted chair I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I wanted to make one myself. Being it my first chair cover, and not even sure if I could make it look some-what like a chair cover, I decided to start the pattern half way. which only took 5 skeins. I picked the colors for my favorite sports team, and went for it! Despite some mistakes, too many stitches in the front section, I think it looks ok for my first attempt!! It was easy and fast. When I attempt another one, I think I’ll play around more with different types of stitches.”
I was really excited when I found it, but please do let me know if you decided to knit a chair for yourself one day, I need to know!
Here are the panels that we knitted during the Knit A Chair day.
Each are unique and tagged with the knitters’ name.
And here’s what I’ve been doing with them…
It’s going slower than I expected, but it’s looking great!
There are definitely not enough panels though, so let me know if you’d like to take part in this creation and knit some squares and panels!
Here’s another lovely addition to our Not-so-ubiquitous Knitted Chairs collection!
It’s knitted by Alicia from Leeds using Sirdar Bigga for the body and some scraps yarn for the details. Check out the awesome flower, leaves and LADYBUGS!!
Isn’t it pretty? I can just see this at somebody’s wedding party. What do you think?
It was a beautiful afternoon in London and we are all knitting chairs!
We have new(men!) knitters….
…and possibly the youngest and definitely the cutest knitter ever (ok, so she can’t really knit yet but we are working on it).
And the chairs met some fans!
It was truly a great day! Most of the passers-by were totally enthralled by the project and some were inspired to pick up knitting again or to knit a chair for themselves. Sure, some were baffled at first, but they all came around in the end. It’s amazing how people totally GET IT. Now I know that it’s not just all in my head and it’s truly a great feeling!
More to come…..I’ll be seaming up the contributions from today, it’s another not-so-ubiquitous chair in the making!
